Kosovo Police, Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes, in coordination with the Special Prosecutor’s Office – War Crimes Department, on 21 April 2025, after long investigations, undertook several operational actions, with the aim of locating and arresting three (3) suspects who are suspected of having committed war crimes against the civilian population during the war in Kosovo.

Initially, in the city of Lipjan in two separate locations, the suspect B.T. male and the suspect N.Č. (female) were located and arrested. In continuation of the operational activity in Pristina, the third suspect M.I. male was also located and arrested. The same are suspected of the criminal offense of “War crimes against the civilian population” committed during 1998-1999 in the Pristina and Lipjan Prisons, in their capacity as guards-correctional officers in the Pristina Prison and the Lipjan Correctional Center, participated in the mistreatment, beatings, physical and psychological torture of Albanian detainees.

The arrested persons have been taken to the offices of the War Crimes Investigation Directorate and are being interviewed.

Kosovo Police is committed to continuing with investigations and close cooperation with the relevant authorities to ensure justice regarding war crimes in Kosovo.
