Today on 07.05.2021, in the occasion of the anniversary of the approval of the Istanbul Convention, the deputy minister of Justice Mrs. Nita Shala simultaneously the national coordinator against the domestic violence visited the Kosovo Police, respectively the Sector of Prevention of Domestic Violence.

The visit was conducted in the facilities of the General Director of Kosovo Police, where the general director of KP Mr. Samedin Mehmeti along with the senior leaders of Police and the Section of Prevention of Domestic Violence, hosted in a meeting the deputy minister of Justice Mrs. Shala.

During the meeting, the director Mehmeti welcomed the deputy minister and through the presentation of the work in Kosovo Police, in this case the Section of Prevention of Domestic Violence, informed the participants on the commitment, results and police activities in the implementation of strategic objectives and actual commitments in handling and prevention of cases of domestic violence.

Part of the presentation was information on operational planning, changes in operational procedures, awareness campaigns, lectures on school premises, comprehensive police actions and planned projects, including “Integrated Policing Strategy led by Intelligence and Community Policing ” 2021-2025”.

Deputy Minister Mrs. Shala, in her speech, thanked the Police for the results achieved, for the work and commitments in terms of providing public order and security in the country, including commitments in preventing and dealing with cases of domestic violence, cases which are increasing and where an even greater commitment and dedication of all institutions is required. All institutional actors are required to further increase the efficiency and effectiveness in the treatment and prevention of cases of domestic violence, for what they will have the continued support of the ministry.

The management of the Kosovo Police pledged to continue with concrete commitments in law enforcement, in providing security, maintaining public order and tranquility, and in particular in dealing with and preventing cases of domestic violence.
