The campaign that started days before by the Section for Prevention of Domestic Violence and the Police Directorate for Community and Prevention, supported by OSCE with the moto “Violence is not justified” was held today in Mitrovica organized by the Regional Directorate of Kosovo Police.

The activity in this campaign was held in the “Mehe Uka” square in Mitrovica where the structures of Police from the central and regional level, Chief prosecutor of the basic prosecution in Mitrovica, officers of Mitrovica Municipality, pupils, teachers, healthcare employees, NGO and civil society participated.

For the objective of this campaign against domestic violence, Regional Director of the Police in Mitrovica Lt Colonel Afërdita Mikullovci said that the police engagements in treating cases of domestic violence are performed within police powers determined by the law, as well as the Police approach will be active in prevention, awareness raising such as todays activity.

While the chief prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica Mr. Shyqyri Syla, in his speech, reaffirmed its readiness and active approach of the prosecution to the cases of domestic violence, as a case that will be treated with special priority.

Except speeches in this activity, this campaign was enriched with activities and pupils of primary and high schools, where they recited poems, essays, music and a play in the theater of the city. For participants, brochures and domestic violence awareness raising material were delivered.
