The 19th anniversary of the establishment of Kosovo Police is marked

 

Prishtinë, 6th of September 2018

Kosovo Police, today at 11:00 o’clock, in the salla e kuqe of the Youth and Sport Palace in Prishtina, in a solemn ceremony has marked the 19th anniversary of its establishment.

In this solemn ceremony have participated the senior representatives of the Institutions of the Republic of Kosovo such as: President of the Republic of Kosovo Mr. Hashim THAQI, the prime-minister of RKD Mr. Ramush HARADINAJ, Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Bejtush GASHI, representatives of local and international institutions of security, ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions, police officers as well as family members of police officers.

In this ceremony, it was an honour to have the directors/deputy directors of police from various countries such as: Albania, Turkey, Macedonia, Monte Negro, Guinea Bisao, Costa Rica, Ivory Coast, Panama and Senegal, who were invited as honorary guests of Kosovo Police.

On marking this important event, regarding the achievements and results of Kosovo Police and the overall challenges that this institution had during the years of development and professionalism, the General Director of Police Rashit QALAJ held the introductory speech, while the President of the Republic of Kosovo, the Prime Minister of RKS and the Minister of Internal Affairs also held speeches.

The general Director of KP, Mr. QALAJ at the end of his speech said that, “We are proud with the principles by which the KP is led: the equal and fair treatment of all, the respecting of human beings and fundamental freedoms, impartiality and neutrality regarding the political beliefs, integrity, honesty and responsibility in the public service, transparency, legitimacy, suitability and proportionality. Police, with priority has treated the prevention of traffic accidents and increasing of traffic safety.

The safety increase on schools, prevention and combating of narcotics, there were also undertaken activities on prevention and combating the organized crimes, economic crimes and corruption. Combating of terrorism and violent extremism as well as strengthening border control.

We are closely working with the local and International partners in the membership on International Safety mechanisms such as INTERPOL and EUROPOL.
We are being developed conform the internal and global needs and challenges.
We will never forget the 19 police officers who gave their life on charge of duty.
We have a saint mission, to provide safety for all the citizens, regardless. We love our job, we love our country and this extraordinary mission”.

While the President THAQI during the speech amongst the other said that “Kosovo Police since its establishment and especially after the Independence of Kosovo has become the first pillar of state building, the most credible and respected institution in the Republic of Kosovo. The international reports put Kosovo Police at a high level compared with the region police. You have also given heroes, such as Enver Zymeri and others”.

While the prime-minister HARADINAJ stressed that “The foundations of our new life in Kosovo have been set by all of us. An important foundation of our new life is Kosovo Police, which was created by the help of all” said among other Haradinaj.

The minister of Internal Affairs Mr. GASHI, during his speech congratulated Kosovo Police for the work and commitment in performing its tasks and responsibilities for the country and citizens as well as used the opportunity to congratulate Mr. QALAJ for the appointment on the position of KP General Director.

An important part of this ceremony was also the promotion of sixty six (66) police officers, from them 5 Lieutenant Colonels, 4 Majors, 57 Captains as well as the awarding of 28 Medals, 1 medal for live saving, 9 for Distinguished Service, 18 police medals for Praise as well as 26 Gratitude and 22 Appreciations.
