Prishtina, 14th of September 2022

On 14.09.2022, in the village of Rracaj Gjakovë, the anti-drug unit of Kosovo Police in Gjakova, assisted by the Fast Intervention Unit and the Regional Forensics Unit at the regional directorate in Gjakovë, implemented the order of the Basic Court in Gjakova, Department for Serious Crimes. In this occasion the house and accompanying facilities, owned and used by a suspected male Kosovar person, were searched. During the control in his yard, namely in the corn field, thirty-three (33) narcotic plants of the cannabis sativa type with a length of 190 cm to 290 cm were found. Also, during the inspection, the following evidence were found and confiscated as material evidence:

• Evidence D#1 – An amount of narcotic substance suspected to be marijuana, which was in the process of drying weighing approximately 448 grams,

• Evidence D#2 – A plastic bag filled with a narcotic substance suspected to be marijuana weighing about 112 grams, which was found in the suspect’s car,

• Evidence D#3 – An electronic scale,

• Evidence D#4 – Sample from suspected narcotic plant and

• Evidence D#5 – Sample from suspected narcotic plant.

Related to this, the suspect who cultivated the narcotic plants was arrested. Narcotic plants were destroyed through burning.

Related to this case, the competent Prosecutor in Gjakova was notified, and has instructed to initiate the case for the criminal offense “Cultivation of opium poppy, coca bush or cannabis plants” according to the criminal code of the RKS, while the suspect is detained for 48 hours, for further legal procedures.
