Prishtina, 31st of May 2023

In cooperation and coordination with the security institutions Kosovo Police continued their commitment in providing security and the progress of the protests which were held today near the municipality facilities of Leposaviq, Zubin Potok and Zveçan.

In the beginning the protest was peaceful, but in the afternoon hours, at different time intervals, some suspected persons threw stones in the direction of three vehicles of Kosovo Police, two of them were damaged broken windows. As a result of the attacks by hard items, one police officer suffered bodily injuries.

Also, during today’s protest, some media/journalists were obstructed and attacked, as well as their vehicles were vandalized by individuals/criminal groups. Obstructing journalists on duty violates the right to expression, information and freedom of the press.

We are committed in investigating these criminal acts and preventing the occurrence of violence. At the same time, Kosovo Police calls on all protesters to refrain from violence and express their opinions in a peaceful manner.
