Regarding the same Police Operation (“MEDIKAMENTI”), now the ninth (9) suspect is stopped and arrested as well.

The operation “MEDIKAMENTI” handcuffs eight suspected persons

Prishtina, 27th of January 2016

Kosovo Police, today on 27th of January, has realized a police operation coded “MEDIKAMENTI”, that resulted with the arrest of eight suspects for smuggling with drugs.

 After six months of intensive investigation conducted by the Section of Investigation Department of Border Police, this wide police operation is realized, that included two Kosovo regions.

             The police operation was conducted in cooperation with Kosovo Customs and Inspectorate for Medical Equipment and Products, seventeen (17) various locations were raid, in the region of Prishtina and Peja. 

  During raid, are found and confiscated great amount of drugs (thousands of medical products) suspected to be unchecked and unverified, with the origin mainly from Serbia, smuggled illegally in the Republic of Kosovo.

After the raid following suspects
are arrested and taken to custodyn:

The arrested suspects in cooperation
and organized have smuggled various drugs, harming the Kosovo budget.

In this occasion, it is suspected
that these suspects have committed criminal act of “smuggling with goods”,
“evasion of mandatory customs taxes”, “illegal performance of medical and
pharmaceutical activities”, “organized crime” and “unauthorized possession of
weapon and ammunition”.

During the search in these locations
are found and seized one revolver cal. 7.62 mm and two hunting rifles.

            The
operation of raid and arrests is done by the order of Prosecution, respectively
Basic Court in Prishtina.
