Kosovo Police trains the operators with official dogs for search of weapons, drugs and banknotes

On 11th of June 2024, at the Special Units Camp in Vrellë, five operators with K9 official dogs unit of the Kosovo Police were certified.
Today’s certification includes two operators with official dogs for the search of explosives and weapons, as well as three operators with official dogs for the search of Drugs, Banknotes, Arms, Ammunition and Polymer (DKAMP).
This training started on 12.02.2024 and ended on 11.06.2024 (a total of 4 months), carried out by the local instructors of the K9 Unit, in Camp Vrella, Slatina and in the state institutions of the RKS.
The training has been carried out by adapting to the needs for the combat of Small and Light Weapons (SALW), taking as a model European allied/partner countries such as England and France.
For the first time, the K9 dogs unit has managed to train and certify three dogs under the new DKAMP scheme, meaning one dog can search for Drugs, Banknotes, Weapons, Ammunition and Polymer.
At the graduation and certification ceremony were present the leaders from the Department of Special Units, the Training Division as the supervisory authority, as well as senior officials from the OSCE who have supported the realization of this program of special importance.
