Kosovo Police, respectively officers of Border Police, after several months investigations, under the grounded suspicion to have committed criminal offence ‘smuggling with migrants’, realized a police operation in the region of Gjilan, where they arrested two suspects.

The following persons have been arrested in this case:

• S. R. born on 1971 m/a/k

• S. A. born on 1974 m/a/k

The abovementioned persons are suspected to have committed criminal activities, enabling several Afganian citizens to illegally migrate, using the territory of Kosovo as a transit to western countries.

It is suspected that during this period, over 100 persons of various ages and genders have been smuggled to western countries. In this case it is suspected that the arrested persons have committed the criminal offence ‘smuggling with migrants’, Article 170 of the Kosovo Criminal Code.

With the order of the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica, on 26 April 2017, by the Section of Investigations of the Border Police Department and with the assistance of the Police Units of the police station in Gjilan as well as two units of SOU, there has been a raid in the house of the first suspect in Gjilan, where during the raid in the house of the suspect, there was no suspected tool found. 

After the interview, he has been taken to custody for 48 hours with the decision of the case prosecutor.
