Kosovo Police in order to rightly inform the public regarding the article published yesterday (28 July 2015) in the portal ‘Gazeta Blic’ where allegedly Kosovo Police blackmailed the editor of the portal ‘Gazeta Blic’, Adrian Çollaku, reacts against this article and clarifies as following:

Kosovo Police began the investigation of the case of publishing the official confidential document of the Financial Intelligence Unit with the request of this unit, as those data have been initially published in the portal ‘Gazeta Blic’.

The investigation of this case began on 9.4.2015 by the Basic Prosecutors office in Prishtina and that’s why today Adrian Çollaku has been invited for interview under the suspicions about publishing the confidential document.

The investigation about this case was initiated by the authorized institutions of law enforcement, where KP received the information from the Unit of Financial Intelligence about the publication of the official confidential document. Then, police in consultation with the prosecutor conducted the investigative actions within the legal proceedings.

The news published yesterday (28.07.2015) that the editor Mr. Çollaku is being blackmailed is not true. Also, the information that the Police is serving the daily politics is not true. Kosovo Police conducts all activities conform its legal powers and is fully independent and professional, and is not serving anybodies’ politics, but is serving to all citizens.

Those activities have been undertaken based on the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code led by the competent prosecutor, specifically Kosovo Police accepted the written authorization on 27 July 2015 by the competent prosecutor to conduct the interview with Mr.
Çollaku.

We assure all citizens that they are equal to the justice and law and regardless their position or status when there is basis for investigation they will be part of investigation as determined by law. We are enforcing the principle of justice that all citizens are equal in front of the law. So in this context we want to inform the public opinion that Police are in no way involved in this and works with no other orders except with legal ones and those of the procedure determined by the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Law on Police.
