Prishtina, 21st of November 2023

The Kosovo Police, respectively the Task Force-East units, in cooperation with the Kosovo Customs in Viti and the Fast Intervention Unit (FIU) in Jarinje, in implementation of measures to prevent and combat illegality and smuggling, have intensified tactical controls and operations in the field, which resulted in the finding of two vehicles loaded with smuggled goods.

In the first case, in the eastern region, on 20.11.2023, a suspected vehicle without license plates was observed moving on Kabash-Smirë-Viti road, which, despite the orders of police officials to stop, tried to leave , where during the escape he caused a traffic accident with one of the official cars of the KP but as a result he was stopped by the police officials.

The Kosovar male suspect with the initials M.M., during the search of the vehicle he was driving, was found loaded goods with a market value of over 25,000 euros, goods which are suspected to have been smuggled through illegal routes by RNM – RKS, and which are as follows:

• Light bulbs – 7100 pcs,

• Dried grape around 300 kg,

• Pealed walnuts 1040 kg,

• Indian walnuts about 200 kg,

• Textile jacket 158 pcs,

• Handbags female 55 pcs,

• Vest-mont 25 pcs,

• Socks 6 pairs and

• 1 pair of shoes female.

Regarding the case, all actions were undertaken in cooperation with the State Prosecutor’s Office, where by order of the competent prosecutor in Gjilan, the suspect was detained for 48 hours, while the goods and the vehicle involved in the case were sent to the Dheu i Bardhë customs terminal.

Also on the same date, in the northern region, during a patrol by the National Police in Jarinje, an abandoned car was found in the village of Jellakce, where it was also without a license plate, in which there were smuggled goods (alcoholic beverages and sodas).

Regarding the case, the relevant police units came to the scene, the vehicle was towed, which was sent to the Mitrovica customs terminal, while all the necessary police actions were taken, for further investigative procedures.
