Today on 19.10.2017 in the General Directorate of Kosovo Police a meeting led by the general Director Mr. Shpend Maxhuni was held regarding the engagement of Kosovo Police for implementation of the police plan for “Local elections 2017”.
In the meeting held by the General Director of Kosovo Police Mr. Shpend Maxhuni have been invited: deputy-directors of KP, Directors of Departments, Divisions, regional directorates and police stations commanders, who were informed about the planning, evaluations and police engagements in providing security and progress of the election process, as a quite important process for the country.
Director Maxhuni among the others said that the creation of a quiet and safe climate for all the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo as well as keeping order, peace and public safety before, during and after the election process, is primary for Kosovo Police.
Mr. Maxhuni asked all senior police superiors to implement all the duties and police plan for elections with professionalism and great commitment, impartial, ethic and ready to fulfil the mission and vision of KP.
In this meeting, with the aim of providing safety and progress of the election process according to planning and by the operational order, was discussed about the engagement of a sufficient number of police officers of various profiles within the units in Kosovo Police.
In the operational planning is foreseen the implementation and realization of the police operation into four phases, starting from the pre-election or preparatory evaluation period, then the engagement in providing safety during the pre-election campaign, engagement and guaranteeing of security in the final phase of election day (Z), as well as the post-election period which period foresees the transportation of the sensitive material under the KP security until the end of the process.
Kosovo Police has undertaken additional measures assigning Police coordinators with CEC and other institutions engaged in this process, as well as the notification of all police officers regarding their legal duties and responsibilities during the election process.
At the same time, the attendees have also discussed the initiation and proceeding of any criminal offence against the right of voting and undertaken of procedural/penal measures against anyone who conflict with the laws that regulate/sanctions the illegal actions on free and democratic elections in close coordination and in cooperation with the State Prosecution according to the action plans and previous agreements based on the law.
Kosovo Police, headed by its management, remains committed in fulfilling its legal duties and responsibilities professionally, transparently and impartially toward the citizens and country.
