Today, on 23rd September 2019, in the General Directorate of Kosovo Police, under the lead of general director Mr. Rashit Qalaj accompanied by managerial staff, a meeting was held with a topic of the engagement of Police in implementing police plan for “Early parliamentary elections – 2019”.
The meeting was attended by KP Deputy Directors, Heads of Departments, Divisions, Regional Directorates, Police Station Commanders, and US ICITAP representatives, who were briefed on police planning, assessments, and engagement in providing security and thrift of the electoral process, as a very important process for the country.
Director Qalaj during this meeting emphasized that creating a safe and secure environment for all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as maintaining order, peace and public safety in the country before, during and after the election process, is a primary concern for the Police. Kosovo.

At the same time, all senior police officers were requested that all duties and commitments foreseen by the police plan for the elections be carried out professionally and with high commitment, and that all police officers be informed of their legal duties and responsibilities during the electoral process, in order to fulfill the mission and vision of the KP.
Operational planning has foreseen the implementation of the police operation in four phases, such as starting from the pre-election or evaluation period, then engaging in providing security during the pre-election campaign, engaging and providing security at the key phase of Election Day known as day (Z), as well as the post-election period that foresees the transport of the of sensitive material under KP auspices and security until the end of the process.
The Kosovo Police will engage a sufficient number of police officers of different profiles belonging to different units within the Kosovo Police, and has taken additional action by appointing Police Coordinators with the CEC and other institutions involved in the process.
At the same time, the participants also discussed the initiation and prosecution of any criminal offense against the right to vote and the taking of all procedural / criminal measures against anyone who violates the laws of the country regulating / sanctioning unlawful acts against free and democratic elections, in close coordination and cooperation with the State Prosecutor’s Office under action plans and prior agreements based on the law.
The Kosovo Police and its management, remains committed to carrying out its legal duties and responsibilities in a professional, transparent and impartial manner towards the citizens and the country.
