Taking into consideration the new developments and the threats from the serious and organised crime, Albanian State Police and Kosovo Police identified the need to develop a joint strategic document to assess the current threats and forecasting these forms of criminality in on the citizens and communities in both countries.
In an effort to comply with Europol SOCTA methodilogy, Kosovo Police in close cooperation with the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission and the Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) SCPC, today launched the strategic document “Serious and Organised Crime Threat Assesment”- SOCTA, a vital document for Kosovo Police and Albanian State Police.
SOCTA document presents the threat assessment of current trends and the new foreseen serious and organised crime and also contains detailed assesment regarding the more significant forms of serious and organised crime, including general threats of safety and economy.
The assessment is based on existing knowledge, expertise and was cmpleted in order to enable decision makers to take appropriate actions to counter common threats.
Joint SOCTA will be an important step in increasing level of cooperation between different authorities within the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania respectively and it will contribute to further development of joint efforts in prevention and combating of serious and organised crime.
In this conference participated General Deputy Director Mr. Naim REXHA, General Director for combatting organised and serious crimes in Albania Mr. Ardian ÇIPA, Ambassador Mr. Jan BRAATHU, Head of OSCE Mission in Kosovo, representative of DCAF Mr. Paulo COSTA, Ms. Meryse Chureau from EUROPOL, Strategic analysis team – SOCTA as well as representatives from other local and international institutions.
