Kosovo Police, respectively the Regional Directorate of Border – East, with police patrol units of border surveillance, while implementing the measures of prevention and combat illegal activities and smuggling have intensified tactical and operational controls on the ground.

As a result of this, on 05.05.2022, in the evening hours, based on the risk analysis and intelligent information conducted by the Border Police units, it was made possible to identify four (4) horses loaded with raw tobacco that had entered the territory of Republic of Kosovo from the Republic of Northern Macedonia, suspected of coming through illegal routes.

Based on intelligence information, the load together with the animals-horses, as a destination had the house of the suspect Z.N., in the village of Lubishtë, Municipality of Viti, in order to be re-load in a vehicle with local license plates.

After the consultations with the competent prosecutor, the uninhabited house was raided, where in one of its premises, a considerable amount of the same goods were found – raw tobacco. There was total of 34 bags of raw “bulk” tobacco over 500 (five hundred) kilograms and 94 (ninety four) packs of tobacco (about 1 kg) were found, which total about 94 kg.

After the preliminary investigation in cooperation with the relevant prosecution, the confiscated goods-tobacco will be handed over to the Kosovo Customs and the case is being investigated by the Regional Investigation Unit of the Border Directorate-East, and further decisions will be taken in consultation with the competent prosecutor.
