Task force unit of the Border Police (DRK-East) in implementing measures for preventing and combating illegality intensified tactical and operational controls at the field.

As a result, today on 14.12.2021, at about 18:30, based on the risk analysis and intelligence from the border police units it was achieved to identify two vehicles: one lorry of the type Mercedes, white, no plates, driven by a suspect, male, Kosovar and another vehicle, van VW LT, white, national plates, also driven by a suspect, male, Kosovar.

It is suspected that the smuggled goods entered illegally within the territory of the Republic of Kosovo from the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

After their attempt to avoid the police stop, border authorities managed to stop the suspects at about 19:10 in the village Sllatina, Municipality of Vitia. One of the suspects escaped from the scene leaving his vehicle, while the other suspect has been stopped by Police.

The suspect at large results to be the brother of the stopped suspect and he was contacted to appear at the police station.

During the control in both vehicles there was found goods, considerable amount of winter shoes for both genders, male and female, as well as textile; sports clothes for both genders; male and female (the initial value of which is approximately 20 thousand euro, but it remains to be precisely assessed by the Customs.

The unit of Regional Investigations of the Border Directorate East dealt with the case.

Further police actions have been undertaken in cooperation with the respective prosecution office and the after preliminary investigations the seized goods is sent to Kosovo Customs.
