Additional information regarding the progress of the protest

As continuation of notification the public regarding the protest and
its progress, we inform that the protest is being held quiet, while the police
units of public order are taking care to provide safety, maintenance of order
and public peace.

 

Initially,
at about 14:00 o’clock, the protesters are gathered to the National Library in
Prishtina, to then continue toward the square to the National Theater, where
for the free movement of the protesters and citizens, including also
re-direction of the traffic has cared the relevant police units.

 

At about 14:45, have started the speeches of political leaders of the
opposition.

 

While a little before 15:00, while the VV leader was holding its speech, a
group of protesters have started to throw various means, fireworks, massive
rocks and Molotov cocktails toward the police officers and state facilities, in
this case toward the government facility of the RKS.

 

It is worth mentioning that Kosovo Police in order to not escalate the
situation, despite the continuous throwing, has stand in cordon by observing
the situation, by calling the protesters to stop throwing the means toward the
police officers and state facilities.

 

The violent protesters have continuously thrown various hazardous means
toward the police and governmental facility by damaging some glasses and by
putting fire in a part of Government facility with Molotov cocktails.

 

Kosovo Police referring the situation and in order to take the situation
under control, was forced to intervene with its relevant units, who have used
legal means, including teargas for dispersing of crowd.

 

The protesters even during the dispersion have continuously thrown color,
massive rocks, Molotov cocktails toward the police and police vehicles by
putting the fire in the front side of two (2) KP vehicles, where the police
officers have managed to stop the fire with the fire extinguishing means.

 

A Molotov cocktail was also thrown in the body of a police officer, but
fortunately except the suffered injuries, his condition is out of the risk for
life.

 

Meanwhile, the protesters have also damage the road traffic signs, and
containers of garbage to whom they have put the fire, the general damages of
the police vehicles, police equipment and public properties are estimated to be
significant.

 

The use of hazardous means by a group of protester, such as throwing of
Molotov cocktail toward the police officers which is considered as hazardous
lethal mean, is an illegal and criminal act.

 

As a consequence of throwing tough and hazardous means by the protesters,
twenty four (24) police officers have suffered injuries, four (4) citizens
among them journalists.

 

While, Kosovo Police have managed to arrest thirty four (34) violent
protesters, to whom were found suspected means such as knives, Molotov
cocktails as well as other things that have served for camouflage.

 

The number of protesters is estimated to have been approximately eight
thousand (8.000) participants.

 

Kosovo Police remains committed in conduction of duties and legal
responsibilities for maintaining of order and public peace, as well as taking
of situation under control
