A suspect who years ago has been issued an international wanted notice, has been arrested

Prishtinë, 8 February 2019

Kosovo Police (KP), in the spirit of international cooperation, in this case after exchanging information and mutual cooperation of ILECU with authorities of several countries, managed to identify and at the same time localize the place where the suspect B.M. born on 1982 male/citizen of Kosovo was staying, against whom an international wanted notice was issued.

The suspect B. M. was wanted by national authorities from 2007, as he was suspected to be involved earlier in the criminal case ‘aiding aggravated murder’, and since 2006 he was sentenced by the District Court in Peja, with 4 (four) years imprisonment, including the time spent in detention during 2004.

While in 2007 the Supreme Court of Kosovo with a judgement increased the sentence from 4 (years) in 12 (twelve) years imprisonment and at the same time with the judgment ordered that the accused is taken to serve the sentence, but the judgment was unable to be executed as he was suspected to have been abroad.

Since the suspect was alleged to be abroad it was continued with procedures of announcing the international wanted notice and from that time the suspect has been internationally wanted.

Kosovo Police , through the Directorate of International Cooperation in the field of Law-enforcement (ILECU) and the unit FAST Kosovo, in several countries of the region and Europe were looking for the suspect as well as verified and exchanged information of joint interest with the aim to identify and arrest the suspect.

In November 2018 KP received the information that the suspect was working in Germany, but with the falsified Albanian identity and that’s why verifications have been done in two countries, in Germany and Albania.

Official information and checks resulted to be right and FAST Germany began to deal with the case, which resulted in arresting him yesterday on 7 February 2019.

Kosovo Police through relevant institutions began with the procedures of extradition of the suspect.

Kosovo Police remains committed in performing its legal duties and responsibilities, with the aim to prevent crime, arrest perpetrators of the criminal offences as well as creating a safe and quiet environment for citizens.
