Kosovo Police (KP), led by its management, within the Strategic Development Plan 2021-2025, has foreseen several strategic objectives, with the aim of increasing efficiency in maintaining public safety, crime prevention, based on the needs of citizens in the field of general safety, as well as in road traffic safety.

With the aim of advancing traffic safety, preventing accidents in general and especially those with fatality, based on strategic objectives, operational plans dedicated to road safety, the Kosovo Police achieved positive results in increasing traffic safety as well as in the prevention of accidents with fatality, which has also been the primary goal of the KP, where during the month of April 2023 there was only one (1) fatal accident.

In addition to the implementation of operational plans, increased police presence in the field, engagement of police units with smart cars in patrols and checkpoints, lectures in schools, various awareness campaigns with the media, cooperation and coordination of activities with relevant institutions in one form or another, influenced the awareness of traffic participants, which reflected in the reduction of accidents with fatality.

Kosovo Police, through the Traffic Division, continuously makes recommendations to central and local institutions on the findings and needs presented on national, regional and local roads, with the aim of further increasing road safety, which directly affects the prevention of fatal accidents and in saving the lives of citizens.

The traffic division with the regional units, in addition to the primary tasks, is also engaged in escorting delegations, escorting hazardous materials, all of which reflect on general safety in traffic, where during the month of April 2023 some of the following activities were carried out:

 5 operational plans with 25 activities for increasing road traffic safety;

 61 escorts of important personalities;

 51 transportation of hazardous substances;

 38 documents for MMPHI and the relevant municipalities related to road infrastructure;

 11 lectures in school institutions;

 20 sensitization campaigns in the media and social networks of KP for the awareness of traffic participants.

Kosovo Police, through the police units, will continue the activities in the field and at the same time calls on all traffic participants to drive carefully and respect traffic rules, in order to further reduce the number of accidents with fatality, as well as for even greater safety in traffic.
