On March 9, 2023 at about 19:20 o’clock, while the police units of Kosovo Police were in the checkpoint in Banje village, performing its legal duties and authorizations in guaranteeing security, in an illegal road have encountered a SUV of Audi type.

The police officers at the checkpoint according to the procedures have signalized the vehicle with a flashlight to stop for a routine control, but the suspect (driver) when noticed the police officers signalizing, increased the speed and fled from the scene, by directly endangering the lives of police officers. One of the police officers while trying to avoid the risk for his life and other police officers was forced to use his weapon.

The vehicle fled from the scene in a high speed using illegal roads, while the police units are undertaking operational and investigative actions in identifying and arresting the suspect/s involved in this case.

As a continuation of investigations, during the performance of police duties, the relevant police units have stopped two other vehicles which arrived at that location, and which are suspected to be related to the suspected vehicle, where there were five people, who were sent to the police station for interview and further procedures in cooperation and coordination with the justice bodies.

Kosovo Police remains committed in carrying out legal duties and authorizations in preventing criminal offences, undertaking more rigorous measures against the individuals or criminal groups who threatens the order, security or the life of police officers who work every day and night to guarantee the safety of citizens, in the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
