Prishtina, 24th of February 2022,

Kosovo Police in the continuation of implementing strategic objectives in combating and prevention of crime, as well as based on the request raised by Kosovo Customs, today in the early morning hours at the border zone Prishtina (Podujeva) region, Mitrovica North (Leposaviq, Zubin Potok) as well as in the border line connecting the Republic of North Macedonia (Viti, Gjilan), carried a police operational for prevention and combating smuggling and other criminal activities.

This police operation aimed the combat and prevention of smuggling, securing order, public peace as well as the law enforcement.

Kosovo Police, respectively its relevant units involved in this police operation took the necessary preventive measures to prevent the use of illegal routes by the suspects, suspected of having used various means through these illegal routes along the border line connecting the Republic of Kosovo with Serbia and the Republic of Kosovo with the Republic of Northern Macedonia, just to commit criminal and smuggling activities.

In this police operation, Kosovo Police used all legal mechanisms, acted under the police powers and competencies, used equipment and various police units to implement positive laws, protect the constitutional order, prevent and combat smuggling and other criminal phenomena.

The commitment, engagement towards fulfilling the strategic objectives by Kosovo Police will continue, in prevention of criminal activities, smuggling and cross-border crime, in order to create a safe and secure environment for the citizens, especially those living near the borderline.
