The launching of the “Manual on gender sensitive police services in cases when women and girls are subject to violence”

Organized by Kosovo Police today on 21.12.2021 and supported by UNWOMEN in Prishtina, was launched the “Manual on gender sensitive police services in cases when women and girls are subject to violence” where participated General Director of KP Mr. Mehmeti, Head of the UNWOMEN office in Kosovo Mrs. Tuzi-Nushi, management of KP, as well as the representatives of local and international institutions.
In this conference spoke to the participants and the opinion; general director of Kosovo Police Mr. Samedin Mehmeti, chief of UNWOMEN office Mrs. Vlora Tuzi-Nushi as well as through online platform from the international police expert Mrs. Jane Townsley presented the manual and its findings. According to UNWOMEN, Kosovo is one of the 22 selected countries and currently is leading in the process of total implementation of pilot project as one of the first countries that started working with an expert drafted manual in leading the development of this process.
In this occasion the general director of Kosovo Police Mr. Samedin Mehmeti in his speech emphasized that: the phenomenon of domestic violence is very specific and sensitive because it happens within a family and it shows up in various forms therefore it is necessary to be treated in a special way and very seriously by all respective institutions, including Kosovo Police.
While Mrs. Vlora Tuzi-Nushi, head of the UNWOMEN office in Kosovo, stressed that: “The manual intends to provide practical instruction for the police to enable gender sensitive and more effective response to the cases of violence towards women and girls sharing the lesson that promotes a reflection culture, of learning and eventual institutional transformation.”
