Prishtina, 4th of August 2021
Kosovo Police, Police Station in Malisheva, at around 02:30 on 03.08.2021 was notified by the Family Medicine Center (QKMF), that a male person (year of birth 1957), was brought by family members in this health institution without signs of life.
Relevant police units (patrols and investigators) have responded to the case. According to the statements of the family members, it is suspected that around 01:00 after midnight on (03.08.2021) the victim woke up and went to his stall which was on fire by fire, on 02.08.2021, to make sure that the fire was completely extinguished or if it is reactivated. The relatives found the victim about an hour later and had taken him to the QKIMF.
On 02.08.2021 as a result of the fire, a part of his stall was burnt, which is suspected to have been burnt as a result of short circuit in the electricity network, due to strong winds. The fire was extinguished by firefighters on the same day around 19:00, precisely on 02.08.2021.
The suspicion of the on call physician is that he may have been suffocated by the smoke at the stall which, although the fire was extinguished, was still smoking.
After consultations with the state prosecutor, the case was qualified as a ‘death investigation’, and investigators from the Gjakova Regional Investigation Sector were engaged to investigate the case. By the order of the prosecutor the dead body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy.
