Dear employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Public Administration

In these difficult times of crisis, it is a moment to be exemplary. All of you, individually and collectively, are protectors and civil servants of Kosovo, and I know you serve our country with dignity, honor and pride. All of you, regardless of grade or title, regardless of the current situation, are an important part of the common struggle to save lives.

I would like to share with you my admiration and respect for the professional commitment and dedication you are showing.

Some of you are working from home, and many are at the forefront of this global health emergency, risking your health every day. These are difficult times wherever you work, from your home, at your workplaces or at the ministry. These are times full of uncertainty and fear, and in difficult times like this, families of entire Kosovo seek a sense of security, order and trust. You guarantee that feeling for us.

Unfortunately, our country is going through a series of challenges, all at once, which makes it important for us, individually and collectively, to do our utmost to lead with a high sense of duty, civic morals and professional principles – to serve and protect.

In the coming days and weeks, the situation will continue to develop at the pace we are seeing in the region and the world. Certainly there will be increase in numbers of confirmed cases, of those hospitalized, and unfortunately there may be also deaths. Some of us may also face these challenges. There will also be increase of anxiety and insecurity among the citizens, to whom we will have to enforce security and stability instructions during a very unstable time. But, we have faced even greater calamities in our history, and we have overcome them, through a spiritual strength and trust in each other. We will succeed this time too. The pandemic will not last forever, but we will always be grateful to police officers, law enforcement officers and public administration.

I am honored and privileged to be among you, and I will stay with you in the forefront to overcome this crisis. I am honored and privileged to have you as coworkers. We are politicians, and politicians come and go – while you are the true Servants of the People. Your mission is to Serve and Protect with high human and professional values and virtues. As soon as the crisis passes, wherever I will be, in every position I may have, I will do everything possible so your treatment from the state be more dignified.

We will continue to work together without stopping, without hesitation and with determination. Of course you are contributors for the better times to come.

Sincerely,

Xhelal Sveçla,
Acting Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Public Administration
