Today, on 19 March, in the facilities of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), there began the exercise VITAL SHIELD, Table Exercise (UT), testing of the reaction mechanism in the scenario on management of nuclear, radiological hazardous material, and products for double use related to the testing of Nacional Draft Strategy of RKS against weapons of mass destruction.

In opening of this exercise supervised and facilitated by expert teams of the United States European Command (EUCOM), RACVIAC (Regional Security Center) and DTRA (Agency on Protection and Reduction of Threats from ASHM), there participated the deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Anton Berisha and the general Director of KP Mr. Rashit Qalaj.

The aim of this thee days exercise (19-20 March 2019), where there were involved all competent institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, is to assess and update the efficiency of the national draft strategy for KASHM of Kosovo and its components.

The Government of Kosovo under the patronage of the RACVIAC center, through its mechanisms is engaged in drafting and implementing the national strategy and the plan of measures, to face with threats regarding the spread of weapons of mass destruction.

The final phase of the project is about the evaluation and testing the strategy to determine its efficiency in coping with the potential threats of spreading weapons of mass destruction (atomic, chemical, biological) and through this exercise with the participation of all actors, this draft strategy shall be tested.

At the same time this table exercise shall be used for the final real conclusions with the aim to update and test the efficiency and effectiveness on how the country (RKS) responds to a series of challenges of spreading ASHM (weapons of mass destruction) where through it the authorities of the Republic of Kosovo shall be given the opportunity to evaluate the potential impact of the action plan regarding the national strategy.
