The Memorandum of Understanding for joint patrolling between the Kosovo Police and the State Police of Albanian, is signed

Prishtinë, 27th of June 2018

On 27th of June 2018, in Lezha – Albanian, the Acting General Director of Kosovo Police Mr. Naim Rexha and the General Director of Albanian Police Mr. Ardi Veliu, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for joint patrolling between the Police of Kosovo and Albania.

Referring to the need and importance of continuing the cooperation and joint patrolling between the both police agencies, in order to increase the security elements of the traffic in Albania, on 1st of July 2018 there will began the first shift of the police officers of traffic in from Kosovo to patrol together with the units of Albanian traffic police.

Being aware that during the touristic season, almost every year there is a sensitive increase of the number of citizens from Kosovo who spend their holidays in the touristic areas of Albania, as well as of the vehicles circulating in the main road axes that connect both countries, it seemed necessary to continue this agreement.

In order to intensify and strengthen the further cooperation between the police of both countries, through the planning and implementation of the joint measures, as well as with the aim to increase the traffic safety, the joint patrolling with Albania have always been successfully and necessary and as a result of such findings, even this year there was signed this Memorandum of Understanding.

Amongst others, this joint patrolling aims the concrete cooperation in the field of prevention of administrative minor offences, for increasing the safety to prevent losing of human lives in road traffic and rigorous implementation of road legislation, to create a safer environment for the citizens who travel in the road axes of the two countries.
