  The Department of Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption respectively the Sector of Investigation of Economic Crimes, after a few months investigation, in cooperation with the Regional Crime Investigation Units and assisted by the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit, under suspicion of committing criminal offences “copyright infringement” and “prohibited trade”, on 19, April 2018, conducted a search operation in five regions of Kosovo: Pristina, Mitrovica, Peja, Gjilan and Gjakova. 

During the execution of this operation, with the order of the competent court there were searched 10 (ten) local businesses, 2 (two) houses-flats, 10 (ten) persons were arrested as well as the following evidences were seized:

• Computer (CPU) 5 (five) pcs

• Lap-top-s 4 (four) pcs

• mobile phones 2 (two) pcs

• Android Box 33 (thirty-three) pcs

• TV 1 (one) piece

• USB 4 (four) pcs

• Notebooks 2 (two)

• paragon-block-bill 2 (two) pcs

  There is a grounded suspicion that the suspects have unlawfully benefited from their actions by selling platforms of TV channels known as IPTV without permission and without prior authorization and at the same time violating the copyright of the subjects who have the authorization and the exclusive right for broadcasting TV channels. With these actions, the above-mentioned suspects damaged the legal companies that perform regular activities of this field according to the laws in force.

By these actions the suspects are alleged to have committed the offenses “copyright infringement” from Article 296 of the CCK and “prohibited trade” from Article 305 of the CCK.

  With the authorization of the respective prosecutors, the suspects are released in a regular procedure.
