Prishtinë, 16 October 2014 -On 15.10.2014 at about 20:00, in the border crossing point Jarinje, Kosovo Police identified and stopped the suspect B. L., born on 1976, citizen of the Republic of Serbia, and member of Ashkali community, who was wanted by the Department of Investigation of Border Police and listed in the Stop List of border authorities. According to the preliminary investigations conducted by Kosovo Police there is the grounded suspicion that the suspect with the aim of materially benefit, smuggled Kosovo citizens, mainly of the community Ashkalis, Roams and Egyptians to countries of European Union, committing the criminal offence “smuggling with migrants”.All police actions regarding this case have been conducted in consultation with the competent prosecutor and the suspect has been taken to custody.It is worth mentioning that regarding the issue of smuggling with migrants there are information that the member of Ashkalis community F. B. smuggled by the already arrested suspect B. L., burned his house on purpose and presented it as evidence, allegedly being persecuted by the major community in Kosovo, with the aim of gaining asylum.Kosovo Police is committed in combating cases of “smuggling with migrants” and at the same time calls all citizens of the country to not be prey of frauds by suspects who with the aim of materially benefit, manipulate with you jeopardizing your lives promising to take you in western countries.
