Prishtinë, 08 May 2014Since 01 May 2014 Kosovo Police has started implementing the police plan called “Safety week” in the road traffic with zero (0) tolerance against the offenders, which will continue further.As we notified before, this continued commitment of Kosovo Police in the whole territory of Kosovo has the sole purpose to raise the level on traffic safety, preservation of the citizen’s life as participants in traffic, prevention of all types of accidents especially fatal ones. Kosovo Police does not intend to punish the citizens but it aims to increase a higher security level in traffic, therefore it requires and APPEALS to all the participants in road traffic including pedestrians, to respect the road traffic signs, as well as to adapt the road and weather conditions while driving. Otherwise, Kosovo Police notifies all the citizens, general public that they will take punitive measures against the offenders, including also the pedestrians, with the sole purpose to raise the level in traffic safety, prevention of accidents, especially fatal accidents since the figures of such accidents are disturbing and worrying even for Kosovo PoliceThe Police plan “Safety week” has given positive results in terms of reducing accidents and progression/increasing of the safety in road traffic. The following statement of the data shows the enhanced commitment of Kosovo Police, for undertaking measures against all offenders in road traffic, especially against the pedestrians which are the most risked category in the road traffic.

Note: It is worth mentioning that the funds collected from the imposed fines based on the Law on Road Traffic Safety nr. 02/L-070, here these incomes, according to the aforementioned law, are collected to the Consolidated Budget of the Republic of Kosovo, respectively at the respective municipality where the offence was caused, while the Kosovo Police budget does not benefit from these funds, because these funds are not collected in the KP budget.
