During two last days, Border Police has achieved considerable success in prevention and combat of border criminality, where beside detection of various cases of document forgeries and smuggling with goods, there were also detected two cases of “smuggling with migrants” and “tobacco smuggling” in a great amount, and 4 suspect persons were arrested. On 12.03.2014 in the International Airport “Adem Jashari” in Pristhina, police officers have arrested four persons with the background suspicion of having committed the offence of ‘smuggling with migrants’.The arrested persons are:

Based on the initial police investigations, it is suspected that the arrested persons by the Police, with the aim of financially benefit have arranged a visit of a seven member Turkish family in Kosovo who have come and were stopped by the police in the International Airport, where their aim was not to stay in Kosovo but they used it as a transit in order of going to the European Union countries. One of the arrested was employee of the International Airport “Adem jashari” in Prishtina. Police investigators with the authorization of the respective prosecutor have initiated the case of ‘smuggling with migrants” and against the suspects was imposed the detention measure of 48 hours. The other case has occurred in the border crossing point ‘Dheu I Bardhë’
On 12.03.2014 at about 12:50, in the border crossing point ‘Dheu i Bardhë’ at the exit of the Republic of Kosovo to the entrance Republic of Serbia, police officers have stopped a vehicle on which were,except the driver, three other persons. After the control and interview, it was realized that these persons had paid large amounts in order to go in a country of EU. After the consultations with the respective prosecutor was opened the case of ‘smuggling with migrants’. Smuggling with goods / tobacco
Me On 13.03.2014 at about 23:30, Border Police of the “West” region, after organizing a tactical operational plan in the Border belt (green line) with Albania, respectively in Vermica village, have achieved to detect three loaded horses with a considerable amount of tobacco, which had passed the border through the border line. The amount of the seized tobacco was 40 pockets, mechanically filled filters and 14 plastic bags with approximately 10 kg, packaged tobacco (refuse)The seized tobacco will be submitted to the Kosovo Customs with a procedural competence, while the three (3) horses will be submitted to FVA (Food and Veterinary Agency).The horses were accompanied by a suspect person who during the interview by the police officers has achieved to avoid arresting and has escaped toward the Albanian territory. Albanian border police was also notified regarding the suspected person and they are coordinating the actions in order to catch the suspected person. All the police actions regarding these cases were conducted under the authorization of the respective prosecutor.
