Kosovo Police, regarding the session of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, and based on the earlier decision of the leadership of the Assembly of Kosovo, made police plans taking the necessary legal measures to provide security and exercise of control, based on legal procedures and the regulation of the Assembly of Kosovo.

Kosovo Police with its officers began to the control the personalities at the entrance of the Kosovo Assembly, where at the entrance, by the order of the competent court, police officers stopped Mr. Kurteshi for the breach of house arrest, on the occasion of his participation in the event / protest dated 12/12/2015 in Gjilan.
With the decision of the judicial bodies, the sentence is replaced by the measure of house arrest with of 30 days.

Also at the session of the assembly, there appeared two deputies who are under house arrest measure, and Kosovo Police based on official duties and legal proceedings informed the justice authorities for breach of house arrest.

Before the start of the session by the decision of the Leadership of the Assembly, based on the Rules of the Assembly it was required the entry of the security personnel in the Assembly session, who according to legal authorizations entered forming a security cordon in the session.

While following the entry of the Assembly leadership and deputies in the Assembly Hall, at the time of preparation of the session, the suspected tool tear gas is thrown by the certain deputies.

After throwing the tear gas, the session was canceled, to continue with the meeting of the assembly leadership, where during the meeting of the leadership, the suspected tool tear gas is thrown by a certain deputy.

The Assembly continued its work at the alternate room for several hours, which then was interrupted again because of throwing tear gas by the opposition deputies.

Referring to the circumstances and the situation created in the premises of the Assembly of RKS, where a suspect tool was thrown, the Kosovo Police, in consultation and coordination with the competent prosecutor has taken all necessary legal actions for investigation and verification of alleged tools.

Based on the ruling of the competent Court, after exiting the building of the Assembly of RKS, the deputy Mr. Lekaj was detained, who was accompanied to the police station for interview and further procedure.

While it was expected to start with the session and during the further developments in the Assembly, a group of about 150 people stood outside assembly and protested.

After 14:00, the protesters have started to be violent throwing different tools filled with color and crowbars to police officers and to state facilities.

As a result of the violence by the demonstrators in various locations five (5) official vehicles were damaged, one of them set on fire by several suspects.

After 15:00 by violent protests is suspect tool Molotov cocktail has been thrown on the one (1) vehicle armor KP vehicle and crowbars were thrown into two (2) police patrol cars that were damaged. 

Also based on the so far information (16:30) by violent protesters one (1) civilian car was damaged.

Referring to this situation and the violence by the protesters, police units were forced to operate using legitimate means to disperse protesters and to put the situation under control.

Violent protesters during disperse and their movements in different locations they tended to block and obstruct the flow of traffic, placing various tools on the road, including garbage containers.

During the police interventions so far three (3) violent protests have been arrested and taken to the police station for further interviews and police procedures.

Based on the powers and legal authority of Kosovo Police, investigative actions are being taken towards discovering how the suspect tool was put in the Assembly Hall, and the time when the suspect tool may have entered.

Kosovo Police continues conducting its legal duties and obligations.
