General Director Mr. Rashit Qalaj hosted the US ambassador Mr. Philip S.
Kosnett, who participated in the ceremony of beginning of the training realized
by the Office of the Program for Assistance against Terrorism (ATA). This training, where there
participate representatives from Kosovo Police, Prosecution and Courts, aims to
increase capacities in law-enforcement in Kosovo, advancing KP officers in
developing technical skills as well as to address threats related to terrorism.

Qalaj in his speech said that the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo as
well as its citizens, are determined to create a democratic society in the
Republic of Kosovo, where respecting human rights, fundamental freedoms, and
law enforcement are guaranteed for all citizens regardless their ethnicity,
religion or other differences, and also stated that we are determined for the
pro-European orientation and aim the integration in the euro Atlantic
institutions and organizations.
In the spirit of this, Kosovo Police remains committed
to strengthening the rule of law and to preventing and combating all negative
phenomena and organized crime in general, particularly in preventing and
combating violent extremism and terrorism.

said that Kosovo Police is supported by the relevant institutions of USA,
thanks to the help, exchange of experiences and practices, as well as the
continuous support by USA, Kosovo Police, in cooperation with other national
institutions managed to protect the Republic of Kosovo and its citizens from
the acts of terrorism, so we are grateful and thankful to USA.
On the other hand, US
Ambassador Philip S. Kosnett said that the US Embassy is proud to be
cooperating in this two-day training which provides the organizational
framework of laws and policies to be considered by officers when investigating
or judging terrorists. This event is important for the rule of law and for the regional
security.
